OXFORD, Maine — The state has developed guidelines to allow for the reopening of Maine’s two casinos. Oxford Casino and Hollywood Casino Bangor have been closed for months due to the coronavirus. Hollywood Casino is owned by Penn National Gaming, whose officials declined comment about reopening. But the Bangor casino’s website says it plans to reopen this Friday. Oxford Casino General Manager Jack Sours says owner Churchill Downs hopes to set a reopening date soon. Following the release of new state health guidelines, Hollywood Slots Casino in Bangor is reopening Friday at noon, a day after the Oxford Casino reopened its doors.

Maine's two casinos suspend operations for two weeks to reduce the spread of coronavirus Oxford Casino & Hotel and Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway are closing their doors for the next 14 days. All employees will be paid during suspended operations. This video file cannot be played.

Among the changes however — no buffet, banquet or bar services, limited restaurant service, no table games will be allowed, and a limited number of slot machines will be available to patrons. Additionally, patrons will be required to wear masks at all times and observe markers and signs mandating social distancing.
