Governor Gina Raimondo recently announced Rhode Island would enter into a two-week, statewide pause to try to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Part of that two-week pause is the closure of entertainment venues, including Twin River and Tiverton Casino Hotel.
For that reason, we will close at 10 pm on Sunday, November 29th, with the expectation that circumstances will allow us to reopen on Monday, December 14th at 6am.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience to you, our valued guest. That said, the State’s efforts to contain the COVID-19 virus are of critical importance and all of us at Twin River are committed to doing all we can to contribute to that goal.
Twin River Worldwide Holding, the operator of Rhode Island’s two casinos, has been ordered by the state Lottery to remove 360 of the “underperforming” video slots provided by IGT.

PHASE 2 REOPENING GUIDELINES & SAFETY PROTOCOLS
The Highlights
Entry to the casino will require your driver’s license (or valid photo identification). It’s critically important that we reopen with strict crowd control measures in place. During this phase, we expect capacity to be limited by State capacity guidelines.
We will offer slot machines at a safe distance separated by plexiglass or at least six feet apart, and we will offer virtual/stadium table games, with limited seating capacity and live table games (excluding craps) with plexiglass dividers. Our Hotel, Fitness Center, Poker Room, Event Center, Valet, and Entertainment offerings will remain CLOSED while we reimagine ways to effectively address safety concerns in those confined spaces. Our food courts will be open with limited seating capacity and we will offer limited bar service in disposable cups.
Our daily hours of operation will be Sunday – Thursday from 6am – 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 6am – 10:30pm. Property-wide cleaning will commence daily.
Upon Your Arrival
All of the parking lots will be open as well as the North & West entrances. Valet service will not be immediately available. Please self-park and make your way to the entrance of your favorite gaming room. Please have your face mask on as they are mandatory for all guests and staff. If you are unable to bring one, one will be provided to you. Once at the entrance, you will be greeted by security staff who will conduct a non-invasive temperature check via thermal cameras. Any guest or team member with a temperature above 100.4 degrees will not be allowed entry on that day.
Team members whose responsibilities require direct contact with guests may be wearing gloves, but guests are not required to do so.
ONCE INSIDE
We encourage you to make use of the increased hand sanitizers placed at entry and exits, the casino floor and elevator landings. Sanitizing wipes will also be provided throughout the property to allow guests to clean common areas before touching.
Just as we are all doing on a daily basis, guests must practice social distancing by staying six to ten feet away from other guests. The same is true while standing in lines, using elevators, kiosks, ATMs or moving around the casino floor.
Remember, play smart and stay apart.
We have lots of new signage strategically placed throughout the property to remind you of social distancing protocols, to guide you in the event a line is forming, and the location and import of frequently using the sanitizers provided.
You might notice a lot more of our team members, including our Clean Team, on the casino floor. They are there for two important reasons: to continuously clean every nook and cranny of the casino floor, and to assist you with one-on-one guidance. Don’t hesitate to call on them with questions and concerns – we want you to have an enjoyable time while you’re with us.
Smoking, including vaping, in the casino will not be allowed. Instead, we have created outdoor areas at the North and West entrances to accommodate our guests. Please refrain from smoking in any area of the casino. You will be required to follow the same steps you followed during arrival and go through the screening process to be allowed re-entry into the casino.
BEHIND THE SCENES
We think you should know what we’re doing behind the scenes to keep you safe and healthy while you’re visiting with us.
Is Twin Rivers Casino Open
Most of those efforts start and stop with the comprehensive training our team members have received over the last few weeks, including infectious disease and sanitation protocols to further ensure guest and team member safety. Team members have been provided instructions on responding and reporting all presumed cases of COVID-19 on property to the RI Department of Health.
Just as importantly, you are asked to contact their supervisor if you notice a coworker or guest with known symptoms of COVID-19. Team members and guests who are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 while at the property are instructed to immediately notify their manager and promptly leave the property. If we are alerted to a presumptive case of COVID-
19 on property, we will work with and follow the appropriate actions recommended by the Rhode Island Department of Health.
We have put in place a host of “back of house” protocols for our employees. The protocols include:
· Hand sanitizing stations and increased handwashing for all team members
· Daily screening for COVID-19 symptoms
· Mandatory masks or face shields
· Disinfecting system for cards, dice and tiles
· Cleaning and disinfecting of the casino cages, touchpoints and guest-facing areas on an ongoing basis
· Social distancing
· Enhanced educational signage
· Installment of temporary plexiglass in areas where staff have to interface with our guests
We apologize for any inconveniences that may occur from these temporary public safety measures, and we hope your enjoy your visit.

TRWH Flagship During Covid
While Twin River Casino is open 24 hours on the weekend, the casino opens at 10 AM during the week. I arrived at 11:00, ready to start my journey. Only two entrances are open at this time, the North and West. I entered the West entrance, where Valet was located and is closed for the foreseeable future.
The entrance protocol takes longer than other New England casinos. Upon arrival, At either entrance, every player and employee must stand in front of a thermal camera. You briefly pull your mask down to have their temperature and picture taken, which is over in less than five seconds. However, if it’s busy, lines will form, slowing down the process. But wait, there’s more.
Step two also takes about 5 seconds per person by inserting your license in a small reader. Twin River can now follow capacity guidelines as well as enact Covid Tracking procedures. Remember to do this as you leave.

First Impressions
As I walked the top floor casino, I noticed machines shut off and plexiglass between machines. I noticed that in banks of 5 slot machines or more, plexiglass was used to separate two end machines or other groups of machines to offer more slots available. These plexiglass separators seemed homemade, complete with stands (that look like they are missing the umbrella) and red tape applied by Twin River staff. As odd as they looked, they worked well.
Slots, Slots and More Slots
Twin River Casino has always seemed to have a bad reputation when it comes to cleanliness. Maybe it goes back to the Greyhound racing days and all those loser pari-mutuel tickets on the floor. But it is much cleaner, especially with no smoking throughout. It smells better, too.
The addition of the newest slots on both floors was exciting to see. New slots give a cleaner feeling.
And why those old VLT’s with their 90’s video game sounds still on the casino floor? Tradition?…Poor Video poker?…..Keno? You got me.
Available Dining
Food options are Slim pickings during the week. Food courts are open but limited. Wicked Good Bar and Grill is open at Noon. And that’s it! But if you are a true New Englander, you can always find something to eat at Dunkin Donuts!
Gambling Specifics
- Slots – many good, new machines. Old favorites like Cleo II and Cashman are still available if you look for them.
- Video Poker – what can I say. Poor pay tables on VLT’s and IGT games downstairs. The bank of Ultimate X video poker is gone unless it has been moved and hidden.
- Table Games available include Live Roulette, Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Let It Ride Poker, Spanish 21, Baccarat, and Craps. Minimums seem to start at $10 for most.
- Stadium Roulette and Stadium Baccarat are available and moved downstairs.
- Pai Gow Poker and Tiles are available. Two tables each, but mostly only one open. The minimum is $25.
- Sports Book – Grandstand ONLY was open, and capacity is controlled. Quite a line out the door, social distanced at Noon. The 3rd floor will remain CLOSED until further notice.
- The poker room is still closed.
Summary – The Draw
Miguel, our slot, and Rhode Island Correspondent, and I enjoyed a five-hour visit. Twin River Worldwide Holding, the parent company, has a lot going on these days. And while it still feels like the old Twin River, I can’t wait for TRWH to expand the property and new food options. Twin River is on the rise.
